BvL and fodjan team up

Agro Napló
The feed management system V-DAIRY Feeder offered by Bernard van Lengerich Maschinenfabrik (BvL) and the fodjan ration calculation application are becoming available as a joint interface for your systems.

This new inter-face allows for interaction between the calculated feed ration and the ration that was actually fed. Customers can now transfer the rations they calculated using fodjan to BvL's feed management system. The subsequent feeding and its evaluation can then be completed in BvL's feed management system V-DAIRY Feeder.

The new system will, thereby, make the feeding process fully transparent and give farmers complete control, which will significantly improve their bottom line seeing as feeding costs make up a major portion of a dairy farm's overhead.

As they often struggle to calculate the appropriate rations, farmers frequently contract the help of feed consultants. The fodjan calculation application is capable of calculating the proper feed rations for all sorts of agricultural businesses – and in a way that fits each specific customer best.

V-Dairy Feeder feed management system in action

The application generates an overview that allows the farmer to pick the ration that is ideal for his particular requirements. Previously, the only distinction that could be made was between healthy and unhealthy rations. Now, fodjan will classify all rations based on the health benefits of the feed and makes suggestions as to how the rations can be improved.

This is the stage of the process where BvL's feed management system V-DAIRY Feeder comes into play. The new interfaces makes it possible to effortlessly transfer the selected rations from fodjan to the system designed by BvL. Once transferred, the data is available to the farmer for feed management in the Web-based access portal of the V-DAIRY Feeder. The feeder will subsequently administer the feed after receiving the ration information on his mobile handheld device. The information on the feeding is transmitted to the feed management system automatically via GPS or Bluetooth. This eliminates the need for using cumbersome USB memory sticks, chip cards or similar means. The data is available for retrieval on the Web-based access portal immediately after the feeding is complete. This data can be used to prepare reports and calculate such feeding parameters as the feeding accuracy or the IOFC, i.e. the income over feed cost.

After the feeding, the actual loading and unloading quantities of the mixer wagon can be relayed back to fodjan. This circle of information allows for a comprehensive analysis of the complete feeding based on the target and ac-tual quantities of each component, ration and feeding group.
