The first seminar – entitled “How can mycotoxins be avoided in animal feed and food?“ – will start at 7 p.m. on December 12, 2016 (will be held in german). Experts from the areas of Crop Protection and Animal Health will tackle the issue from various perspectives. Participants can then ask questions and engage in discussions with the experts through an online chat function.
The common goal is to increase safety in relation to mycotoxins. In his presentation “Fusarium – mycotoxin sources and reduction options in the field”, Dr. Torsten Balz from Bayer's Crop Science Division will explain what sustainable measures can already be taken into account at the cultivation stage. Professor Fink-Gremmels from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Utrecht University in the Netherlands will then talk about the effect of mycotoxins on the health and productivity of cattle and pigs in her presentation “Mycotoxins, animal health and food safety.” Possible consequences for the fertility of sows will be discussed, as will other topics such as new findings pertaining to the “carry over” effect for dairy cows.
With this online seminar, the Bayer Livestock Academy is aiming to work even more intensively on joint solutions to agricultural challenges in the future. Further information on the issues, dates and registration procedure is available at www.farm.bayer.de.
