Already 2,200 exhibitors from 46 countries registered - World's most important exhibition for agricultural machinery and equipment - New site concept - Specials - International technical programme.

(DLG). The organizer DLG (Deutsche Landwirtschaftsgesellschaft – German Agricultural Society) reports that 2,200 exhibitors from 46 countries have already registered for the international exhibition of agricultural machinery and equipment, Agritechnica, to be held in Hanover from 12 to 16 November 2013 (Preview Days on 10 and 11 November). This encouraging stand booking result is around 10 per cent higher than it was at the same time for the record event two years ago, says Agritechnica Project Manager Freya von Rhade. The exhibition area has also grown by around 15 per cent compared with 2011 and now extends over 23 hectares. As von Rhade further stressed, all the world's leading companies in the industry will be represented at Agritechnica 2013 and be showing their innovations and current further development there. Agritechnica thus impressively confirms its position as the world's leading exhibition for agricultural machinery and equipment. For manufacturers it is the world forum for the industry. “Here they meet the business-minded farmers, the investors and the key customers from industry, trade and research facilities, from Europe and the whole world, as well as representatives from the areas of politics, consultancy and professional associations.”

Outstanding international participation
For the first time more than half of the exhibitors come from outside Germany. The largest contingents of the 1,100 international exhibitors registered so far, representing an increase of around 20 per cent compared with 2011, come from Italy (293 companies), the Netherlands (98), France (86), Austria (70), Turkey (68), China (61), Canada (47), Denmark (43), the United Kingdom (41), Poland (38) and Spain (35). In addition official country pavilions from altogether 19 countries have registered. DLG sees the high international participation to be a distinct sign of the increasingly global orientation of the companies and agribusiness with its worldwide interlinkages. The companies plan to use the Agritechnica platform specifically for developing new markets.

World forum for the industry
DLG sees reasons for the outstanding exhibitor response to lie on the one hand in Agritechnica's leading position as forum for the agricultural machinery industry, with high pulling power for business farmers, contractors and dealers from all over the world. Two years ago 419,000 visitors came to Agritechnica to gather information, including nearly 100,000 international visitors. A further reason is the fact that Agritechnica is the innovations showcase for manufacturers. They orient their innovation cycles to Agritechnica and launch their innovations for the world market there. A further point is the ideal location in Hanover with the world's largest exhibition grounds, offering optimal conditions for both exhibitors and visitors. Furthermore, with its topflight technical programme including a large number of international events such as congresses, forums and press conferences, Agritechnica is considered to be the most important forum for the future of the agricultural sector. Here, technology trends are shown and all major questions relating to the future of agriculture and agricultural machinery and equipment are addressed.

New – “Systems & Components”
“Systems & Components” play a crucial role for the innovative force in agricultural machinery and equipment and are the driving motor behind concepts such as reliability, efficiency, environmental protection and safety. The distinction between system, module, component and part suppliers reflects the real industrial production process and is being implemented consistently in sector groups for the first time in the exhibition concept at Agritechnica 2013. In the new exhibition sector “Systems & Components”, the unique and complete product range of segments such as chassis, cabs, vehicle electrics and electronics, drives, transmissions, engines, hydraulics, brakes and steering, and the associated parts and components for the agricultural machinery sector will be on show. This sector will be complemented by exhibitors from the fields of business promotion, cluster initiatives, research and development, and specialist publishers.

New -  Special “Agritechnica Machinery in Detail”
A highlight will be the Special “Agricultural Machinery in Detail”. For the first time at an exhibition a tractor will be dismantled live into its assemblies and then reassembled. The Special will be flanked by a technical programme with topical technical themes. These will include keynote lectures on the themes of “value-driving purchasing” and “procurement market strategies”. The Special is embedded in a “Systems & Components Lounge” that DLG will set up in Hall 1 as a central marketplace with a broad programme for exhibitors and visitors.

New site concept with changed hall arrangement
As a consequence of the additional demand on the part of exhibitors, DLG has enlarged the occupied hall area at the Exhibition Grounds in Hanover, resulting in further development of the product sector concept with changes in the hall occupation. The objective of this new sector group concept is on the one hand to structure Agritechnica on the basis of thematic areas as far as possible for optimal visitor orientation and product presentation, and on the other hand to achieve optimal distribution of the visitors over the entire exhibition grounds. The most important changes are set out below:

- The suppliers to the “Systems & Components” segment will be presenting their products and services primarily in Halls 1, 2 and 3.

- The programme of suppliers in the areas of potato and sugar beet machinery and equipment will be found primarily in Halls 24 and 25.

- The suppliers of feeder-mixer wagons will be showing their products chiefly in Hall 25.

- The programme for irrigation systems and for special crops/vegetable cropping will be mainly in Hall 21.

- The suppliers of machinery and equipment for forestry and municipal applications will be presenting their programmes mainly in Hall 26.

- The area of energy plant production/renewable raw materials will be based chiefly in Halls 21, 22 and 23.

New: Special “Rice Production”
With approx. 160 million hectares, rice is one of the chief grains farmed worldwide and contributes to the diet of large population groups. For this reason special attention will be devoted to the subject of “rice production” at this year's Agritechnica – in an Agritechnica Special in Hall 17, where professional rice growers from all over the world will be able to gather information about solutions for present challenges in rice production.  Leading exhibitors will be showing modern technologies for tackling these challenges. International experts will be there to answer questions on, for instance, water management, soil preparation, sowing, fertilizing, plant protection and harvesting. The exhibits will be explained in daily guided tours of the stand and tips for work nowadays will be provided. This will all be supplemented by forum events at which rice-specific topics will be discussed. The language of the Special is English.

Special “Smart Farming - Updates for Plant Production”
In recent years technical progress in agricultural machinery and equipment has developed at a headlong rate. Tractors, machinery and equipment are not only becoming “larger, wider and faster”. Agricultural machinery and equipment are undergoing a phase with enormous development thrusts in sensor technology, machine control and data management. This leads to technical auxiliaries in field operations being able to respond ever more precisely, efficiently and sensitively to the changing conditions in modern arable farming. The progress often lies in the intelligence of the machines. In many cases expedient combinations or supplements, in other words updates, are sufficient to boost the efficiency of a system. While this progress is speeding up, it becomes a great challenge for farmers to maintain an overview. Yet it is important to secure and where possible to improve site yield capability sustainably with the latest modern tools, to boost the efficiency of plant production and at the same time to conserve the natural resources especially. One example of many possible approaches is integrating automatic steering systems. With this in mind the DLG Test Center Technology & Farm Inputs will be presenting the latest test results. They show that via precision parallel tracking and optimized headland management it is possible to save time, farm inputs and energy and to reduce the pressures on the soil. With the Special “Smart Farming” in Hall 17, DLG together with exhibitors and partners from the fields of research, consultancy and practice offers a unique orientation platform at Agritechnica 2013 showing how modern systems function on a cross-manufacturer basis too, what is already suitable for use in practice, and what can be expected in the future.

Dealers and Used Machinery Centre in Hall 2
DLG, the German LandBauTechnik Association and the European umbrella federation of agricultural machinery dealersCLIMMAR are setting up an international Dealer Centre again at Agritechnica 2013. This year it will be based in Hall 2 for the first time. This again gives agricultural machinery dealers from all over the world a central, one-stop port of call for information and service. A further important port of call is the Information Centre for the Used Machinery Trade, located next to the Dealer Centre. Around 50 companies, including retailers, dealer communities, used machinery forums and service providers from the fields of financing, freight forwarding, customs, valuation, used machinery conditioning, engine oil analysis, insurance and auctions will be presenting their programmes in the setting of the world's largest exhibition for agricultural machinery and equipment. The Information Centre for the Used Machinery Trade will once again be an excellent platform for making contacts with the demand side for used agricultural machinery and equipment from all over the world.

Special “Workshop LIVE” in Hall 2

Good service performance and optimally trained skilled staff are a vital prerequisite for the agricultural machinery and equipment market to function. In cooperation with the German LandBauTechnik Association, the demands made of the various qualification levels (apprentice, service technicians and master craftsman) for agricultural and construction machinery mechanics will be shown in a new edition of the Special “Workshop LIVE” with the help of practical demonstrations (accompanied by German commentaries) of maintenance and conversion work on the latest modern machinery and equipment. In addition, the bodies responsible for training will provide extensive information about this profession. The Special “Workshop LIVE” is located in Hall 2.
