The challenges resulting from the turnaround in energy policy call for new accents to be introduced in future – extending beyond energy production, and increasingly in energy distribution too. DLG (Deutsche Landwirtschafts-Gesellschaft – German Agricultural Society), organizer of “BioEnergy Decentral”, is therefore opening up the programme spectrum of the fair further and setting additional priority areas. This will be expressed in future in the new name as well – “BioEnergy Decentral” will become “EnergyDecentral”.

In future, therefore, the spotlight will be not only on producing energy from renewable energy sources, but also on expanding the grid and further developing efficient technologies for storing and distributing the energy produced. In addition, innovative solutions for networking technologies and realising Smart Grids will move more to the centre of the stage. Capturing and more exact steering of the energy volumes produced is a prerequisite for needs-driven supply of energy and efficient use of the energy generated. In order to establish needs-driven and reliable electricity supplies, many innovative solutions in the field of energy supply from conventional energy sources are needed alongside bioenergy in its entirety. Natural gas in particular offers enormous advantages in the field of decentralised energy supply, with many linkage points for storing energy too. Future energy supplies will be “decentral!”.
