Organised alongside the State Ministry for Agriculture and Environment Saxony-Anhalt, AGRAVIS Raiffeisen AG and insurance company Vereinigten Hagelversicherung (VVaG), the DLG expects the three-day event to match attendance figures of previous events, which were recorded to be nearly 20,000.
Further partners include the Union zur Forderung der Oel- und Proteinpflanzen (UFOP, Association for the Promotion of Oil and Protein Crops), Fachagentur Nachwachsende Rohstoffe (FNR, Specialist Agency of Renewable Resources) and Deutsche Kreditbank (DKB).
Platform for innovations in crop production
The DLG Field Days, which occupy an area of 45ha, are a showcase for the very latest innovations in the sphere of crop production. Suppliers from diverse sectors of the industry will have the chance to exhibit new products and concepts to growers keen to learn and implement these ideas.
One of the main focus areas will be out in the trial field, where exhibitors will have the chance to present a wide range of different varieties of all commonly grown crop species. This area will also be used to demonstrate other aspects of crop production, ranging from selective fertilising, environmentally-sensitive methods of controlling pests and diseases and cutting-edge cultivation techniques.
Countless specialist stands in the marquees surrounding the field trials area will give visitors a comprehensive market overview of varieties, fertilisers, plant protection agents and larger capital goods.
As well as more typical crop types, there will be an extensive range of cash crops, fodder crops and renewable crop options.
Crop contest attracts top agronomists
Once again, one of the most anticipated features of the DLG Field Days will be the European Crop Comparison for rapeseed and wheat. These demonstration trials involve agronomy specialists from various European countries as well as Russia, and result in the discussion of various crop production methodologies and advancements.
There will also be focus groups on the topics of crop protection, innovative plant breeding and seed dressing.
International Field Robot Event
Field robots may not be commonplace in European agriculture yet, but this may only be a matter of time. The international Field Robot Event, which will sit within the framework for the DLG Field Days and will give many visitors the chance to see much of this technology.
Students from across Europe will be pitting their self-developed, autonomous field robots against one another in a series of tasks in a bid to be crowned the winner.
Other event partners from the worlds of science, industry and consultancy will host information points covering key hot topics such as fertiliser quality, the use of drones and remote sensing technology in arable farming, plant breeding and crop treatments. Precision crop protection techniques, mineral fertiliser spraying and methods of optimised fertiliser application will be also be discussed and displayed.
Machinery demonstrations
A number of leading German and international manufacturers will be exhibiting new and existing machinery. Live demonstrations will be held on each of the three event days, with emphasis being placed on deep-tillage, automatic-steering and headland management.
Precision crop protection in the field and sensor technology on fertiliser spreaders will also be demonstrated.
To welcome those from further afield, the International Visitors Lounge, located next to the DLG stand (VA24), will provide a good base, with Russian and English speakers on hand to talk visitors through the different areas of interest they might have.
