The Deputy Minister for Economic Development, Carlo Calenda recognises the excellent development plan for the event organised by theUnione Italiana Vini

Milan, 9 March 2015 – SIMEI is one of the events that will be receiving funds from the Ministry for Economic Development for strengthening the Italian trade fairs sector.

Interest for the event due to be held in November of this year was confirmed at the meeting that took place recently in Milan organised by AEFI, the Association of Italian Exhibition and Fairs. During the meeting, The Deputy Minister for Economic Development, Carlo Calenda, together with the President of Confindustria, Giorgio Squinzi, the President of the ICE, Riccardo Monti, and the President of the AEFI, Ettore Riello, emphasised the role of the important Italian trade fairs in the scope of the “Extraordinary Plan for Made in Italy”.

As indicated by the Deputy Minister, Calenda, the figure allocated for 2015 to Made in Italy totals 261 million Euros, including 48 to develop significant trade fair events, ten times more than the average over the last five years.

Domenico Zonin, Chairman of the Unione Italiana Vini (organisers and promoters of Simei for 52 years) was of course satisfied: “The inclusion of SIMEI in the Extraordinary Plan for Made in Italy by the Ministry for Economic Development is for us first of all a source of pride, demonstrating the role that the event has gained over its 52 years of life on the world stage as a showcase of the Italian industry of winemaking and bottling. Yet the attention that the deputy minister Carlo Calenda has given to SIMEI also presents a challenge as to the future of the event. It has set us ambitious goals for development that we wish to achieve and that must also respond to the Government's commitment to this extraordinary operation to support the growth and internationalisation of our businesses."

Since the last edition, SIMEI, International Enological and Bottling Equipment Exhibition (due to take place in Milan from 3 to 6 November 2015) has grown in terms of planning and objectives, anticipating the development lines dictating eligibility criteria for funding presented by the Deputy minister Calenda.

"We have set in motion a gigantic project of modernisation of the organisational machine – said Francesco Pavanello, general manager of the Unione Italiana Vini – “ The goal is not just to sell space, but to include the exhibiting companies in a global project, whereby participation in the exhibition is only the climax. In recent years, we have established important relationships with the UIV's counterparts in America, Chile and Argentina and we have become part of the circuits of the international federations of wine and spirits, creating partnerships based on concrete projects. One in particular is that of sustainability, which has become one of the drivers of wine companies throughout the world, and to which the supply chain of technologies must respond appropriately."
