At this year's Agritechnica (November 10–14, 2015, Hanover, Hall 23, Booth C17), Hugo Vogelsang Maschinenbau GmbH is presenting a condensed selection of products that offer more solutions for feeding cosubstrates into biogas plants. To implement solid matter feeding that is as efficient as possible and is tailored to the needs of the plant Vogelsang is launching two new products: the CC-Cut for treating and pumping pre-mixed suspensions, and the CC-Mix – a compact unit for mixing semisolid to solid, pourable substrates (e.g. maize silage, beet pulp or ruminal contents) into a homogeneous suspension. Both innovations complement the existing product range, so that Vogelsang can now offer the ideal feeding solution for almost every substrate and every type of plant. In addition, new sizes will be presented of the easy to maintain CC series progressive cavity pumps and the RotaCut RCX cutter for fluid feeding systems.
“Optimizing solid matter feeding is not always the first thing people think of when it comes to improving biogas plants,” says Managing Director Harald Vogelsang. “And this is unfortunate, because efficient components that feed optimally treated solid matter have a positive impact on the overall fermentation line and are an important factor in the success of the system as a whole.”
Two new solid matter feeders for all input materials
The CC-Mix solid matter feeder expands our range in the Mixer area, a set of compact solutions for continuous mashing and pumping of organic suspensions in a single step. It is based on a feed screw fitted with ripping teeth and the CC series progressive cavity pump. Semisolid media and flowable solid matter, such as vegetable scraps or waste grain, are mashed together efficiently with a liquid to form a homogeneous suspension and are then fed in. As with all fluid feeding systems, it is possible to feed multiple digesters with a single unit. The sophisticated design of the CC-Mix – with its optimized layout and geometry of the mixing tools – prevents floating layers and ensures good, homogeneous mixing. This is also the basis for reliable separation of stones and metal parts in the built-in foreign matter separator.
In the area of the Cuts – the efficient system solutions for biogas plants that mash solid matter in batches, in mashing tanks or hydrolysis tanks, for example – the new CC-Cut strengthens the Vogelsang product range. The CC-Cut combines a progressive cavity pump from the CC series with a special RotaCut RCX from Vogelsang. It is therefore suitable for suspensions or flowable media with medium to high viscosity that contain larger or coarse foreign matter and have to be pumped against a high pressure. Fibers and coarse matter contained in the premixed suspension or medium are shredded in the first step, and foreign matter is separated out before it reaches the pump unit. Thanks to the easy to maintain and service design of both components, service and maintenance work can be performed simply and quickly, without disassembling the pipes.
The right technology for every substrate
The new machines round out Vogelsang's existing range in the area of solid matter feeding: BioCut, QuickMix and the premium variant PreMix. Fibrous and structure-rich matter can be fed in using the tried-and-tested EnergyJet. “This way, we can cover all needs in solid matter feeding. Plant operators can choose from our solutions, according to which substrate they use, the size of their plant and their plant concept,” says Vogelsang. To help plant operators find the right technology to optimize their solid matter feeding, Vogelsang offers the BIOGASmax consulting concept. Experts from Vogelsang analyze the specific biogas plant and substrates and develop efficient solutions together with the customer.
CC series progressive cavity pump in new size with variable suction housing
After winning a DLG silver medal at EuroTier 2014, the CC series progressive cavity pump will now be presented at Agritechnica in a new size. The CC-55 expands the capacity range of the easy to maintain CC series downwards. A universal suction housing is available as an option. Thanks to the connection holes on several sides, multiple lines can be connected directly to the pump – so there is no longer any need for an additional manifold. The functionality of the concept for service and maintenance is retained in full: the rotor and stator can be replaced as a complete unit in next to no time.
RotaCut in new size RCX-68G
The RCX cutter series is expanding to include a new size: the RCX-68G. With a flow rate that is up to fifty percent higher, the RCX-68G is particularly suitable for use in fluid feeding systems. Flow rates of 100 m³/h are even possible in highly viscous suspensions. The entire design has been adapted to harsh operating conditions, making the new RCX-68G very robust and stable. To enable an even more precise cutting blade status display, the sensors and design of the ACCplus (Auto Cut Control) have been optimized. A temperature monitor for the cutting screen is available as an option with the RCX-68G to prevent dry running and resulting damage.
