From 8 to 14 November 2015 at Agritechnica, BGR will demonstrate the technology and flight capabilities of Sikorsky S-76B as part of Agritechnia's "Smart Farming - Digital Cropping" show special at Hall 15, stand G31 of the Hanover exhibition grounds.
The BGR helicopter for soil mapping
Data captured aero-spatially by Sikorsky S-76B include soil parameters from the last 18 months, among others. The data was collected from a large area in Brandenburg, North Rhine-Westphalia and Baden-Württemberg, and constituted the natural radioactivity on the earth´s surface measured aerially with a gamma-ray spectrometer. Such a regional mapping technique allowed for concentrations of natural radionuclides potassium, uranium and thorium to be detected from the air. On the basis of the natural radioactivity detected on the earth's surface, different soil types can be distinguished from each other. In future, incorporating the use of remote sensors could improve the accuracy of such aerial mapping systems.
Sikorsky S-76B fits right into the show feature "Smart Farming - Digital Cropping – understanding your yield", which is all about showcasing digital solutions for farming that leverages on meaningful linkages and interpretation of data, whether collected from a satellite or on the ground. Because location variables such as soil quality, nutrient supply and water availability affect farm production and profitability, having quantifiable survey data allows for better informed crop decisions. As the saying goes, if you can measure it, you can manage it.
The Smart Farming feature offers a platform for a wide range of improvements in crop production. Farmers and visitors can glean from the wealth of solutions presented, compare all available options and approach manufacturers with their queries. All demonstrations will be followed by a question and answer session. Participating companies at "Smart Farming - Digital Cropping" include:
AgriCircle

“Smart Tool 2015” award and trending topics at Forum “Crop Cultivation Live”
Visitors will have the chance to vote for their favourite exhibitor in a survey. A tally of the survey votes and winner of the award for “Smart Tool 2015” will be announced on Thursday, November 12, at 14.00 at the Forum "Crop Cultivation live".
On-trend topics will be explored and discussed at the daily lectures presented as part of this Forum. Exhibitors will present their farming technologies, followed by in-depth discussions complementing various discussion themes. The Forum "Crop Cultivation Live" is located in Hall 15, stand G31.
