Agritechnica – a driving force for innovation International agriculture continues to invest in the future – around 450,000 visitors.

´Once again, Agritechnica 2015 has impressively cemented its lead position as the benchmark international trade fair for agricultural machinery and farming. With some 2,907 exhibitors, around 450,000 visitors – including more than 100,000 from overseas – Agritechnica has matched its figures from 2013.´ These words were spoken by Dr. Reinhard Grandke, CEO of the event organiser DLG (Deutsche Landwirtschafts-Gesellschaft / German Agricultural Society), at the close of the Hanover-based international fair for agricultural machinery and equipment on 14 November 2015. The mood at the stands was much more upbeat than expected – as reflected in the high willingness to invest. ´According to an independent survey, more than two thirds of farmers believe their businesses are currently in a good position. And they are intending to invest over the next couple of years,´ reports DLG's Dr. Grandke.

Some preliminary conclusions are already on hand:

  • 2,907 exhibitors, some 1,627 from outside Germany, showcased an array of innovative agricultural technology, including components and accessories, that is unrivalled anywhere in the world.
  • Agritechnica is a driving force for innovation and a source of inspiration for agriculture around the globe. Here agricultural machinery makers present their latest innovations for modern-day agricultural practitioners worldwide. Agriculture 4.0 is here: Sensor-based information collection systems along with satellite-guided and high precision farming that makes use of electronic steering technologies mean processes can be part automated. Together, these innovations give farmers the new opportunities they need to enhance efficiency and conserve resources.
  • The Systems & Components event has made its mark at Agritechnica. This cross-industry concept with its focus on systems, modules, components and parts suppliers was well received by the supplier industry and its visitors.
  • With 450,000 visitors, Agritechnica has repeated its result from the year 2013. With its unique array of information, Agritechnica is the ideal information platform for farmers, contractors and traders in today´s difficult market environment. Here they can compare and discuss and make sure their enterprise is on track for the future.
  • Around 347,000 visitors came from Germany. This is roughly a 4-percent increase in comparison with 2013. As the visitor survey shows, all of Germany´s farming regions were well represented: 39 percent came from South and Southwest Germany, 50 percent from North and West Germany and 11 percent from Eastern Germany.
  • The 104,000 international visitors came from 124 countries. Most of them came from the Netherlands (13,000), Switzerland (10,000), Austria (9,900), Ireland (6,900), Denmark (5,800), France (4,300), Sweden (4,100), Finland (3,700) and Great Britain (3,200).

Agritechnica serves as a major international investment platform for decision-makers and investors from large-scale farming enterprises in Central and Eastern Europe. The large majority of the approximately 15,000 attendees this year came from Poland (2,700), the Czech Republic (1,700), Romania (1,500), Lithuania (1,400), Hungary (1,400) and Russia (1,200).

The significant number of visitors from overseas is an impressive endorsement of Agritechnica´s reputation as the world´s leading exhibition in this field. Some 7,200 visitors came from North, Central and South America while 1,000 came from Oceania. China and India both had 700 visitors in attendance while there were some 1,200 visitors from African countries.
  • Agritechnica is known for its technical programme. Its ‘specials', congresses and pre-exhibition events and forums provide an opportunity to look ahead to the future and to discuss topics in a variety of contexts with international experts.
  • At the event series AG Machinery International for example, international experts highlighted market potential and market openings as well as financing frameworks and technological specifications for selected growth markets. The findings will help accelerate know-how exchanges with these countries on site-appropriate concepts. Farmers and contractors proved more willing to invest than anticipated beforehand. As the visitor survey shows, more than two thirds of them are planning to make an investment within the space of the next two years. The focus here is on expansion and replacement.
  • Interest in Agritechnica has increased tangibly amongst national and international policy-makers. Germany´s Agricultural Minister Christian Schmidt and the Russian Minister of Trade and Industry Denis Manturov rubbed shoulders with other ministers and high-ranking delegations from all continents at Agritechnica.
  • The next Agritechnica is scheduled to take place from 14 to 18 November 2017 (Preview Days on 12 and 13 November) at the Exhibition Grounds in Hanover.
