A crowd of visitors characterized since the early hours of the morning the fourth edition of the exposition of agricultural mechanics in New Delhi. Opening conference at the presence of the Minister of Agriculture Radha Mohan Singh together with the organizators of the event.

The fourth edition of EIMA Agrimach, the international exposition of the agro-machinery sector, opened this morning in New Dehli and for three days will be offering to the audience of farmers and traders a wide range of technologies for the specific needs of farming in India and the Asian countries.

In a room full of operators took place the inauguration conference, at the presence of the organizators of the event and the political authorities. During the meeting, the Deputy Secretary General of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry FICCI, Vinay Mathur, recalled how the exhibition is the result of a close cooperation between FICCI and the Italian Agricultural Machinery Manufacturers Federation FederUnacoma; a cooperation included – as recalled the Italian Ambassador in India Lorenzo Angeloni – in a path of greater harmony between the Indian and Italian peoples.

In Italy there is an Indian community of 300,000 people – said Angeloni – and in India the presence of Italians and their initiatives is growing. In the agricultural sector in particular, the cooperation between the two countries aims at promoting a rapid growth in the primary sector – as recalled the Director General of FICCI Arbind Prasad – for small businesses, which represent an important part of the social and productive fabric of the country. Indian agriculture – described in the speeches of the Deputy Secretary General of the Ministry of Agriculture Jalaj Srivastava and of the Minister of Agriculture Radha Mohan Singh – has undertaken in recent years very important policies for the agricultural development, aimed not only at ensuring domestic food needs, increased with population growth, but also at trading agricultural commodities on the markets around the world.

In this context, long-term strategic partnerships assume particular value, as the one offered by a prestigious trademark of the agricultural mechanics such as John Deere, represented at the conference by Satish Nadiger, Director of the John Deere India – the “event sponsor” – as well as that offered by the many Italian businesses that are developing activities in India, represented by FederUnacoma. Finally, President Massimo Goldoni – speaking on behalf of the Federation – drew the attention on sustainability, a major challenge not only for India, but also for all the developing countries. Agricultural mechanics is the key factor to increase land productivity – said Goldoni – but also for the rational exploitation of the natural resources such as organic matters of soil and water, which are today more and more precious.
