The international technology trade fair, INTERVITIS INTERFRUCTA HORTITECHNICA, starts this year with a new event date and enhanced concept. From 27 to 30 November 2016, visitors can not only experience technology for wine and juices live at Messe Stuttgart, but producers and marketers of special crops also discover everything about the latest trends in their industry.
The additional focus on special crops is an ideal complement to the trade fair concept. "The challenges facing producers, marketers and processors of wine, juices, as well as plants such as asparagus, strawberries and hops, are often very similar. Climate change, crop protection and energy efficiency are topics which are equally relevant to everyone", states Philipp Schulze Esking, Vice President and Chairman of the Exhibitions Department, DLG e.V. With the DLG (German Agricultural Society) the German Winegrowers' Association (DWV) has gained a strong conceptual supporter for the area of special crops. The DLG is represented with its own stand in the special crops area and is organising several forums on current relevant topics.
The management of special crops is a new focal point of INTERVITIS INTERFRUCTA HORTITECHNICA in 2016, in addition to wine and juices.Clever solutions for special crops – Development work that achieves its goal
The DLG is dedicating a lot of space to the topic of "Smart Horticulture" at the trade fair and is setting up a special pavilion. The pavilion presents state-of-the-art technology for the cultivation of special crops and vegetables outdoors and in greenhouses. The focus is on intelligent solutions from the areas of software and electronics, but also purely mechanical further developments, which are of benefit to the user.
A forum is a wonderful addition to the special pavilion in terms of content and space. Here current issues which interest growers of special crops and vegetables in particular are on the agenda on all exhibition days. The topics include energy and resource efficiency, irrigation, logistics and quality management, sensors, modern plant protection and robots, among other things. The DLG managed to acquire well-known experts as partners for the special pavilion, as well as for the associated forums. For instance, Prof. Dr. Hans W. Griepentrog from the University of Hohenheim will be on hand to deal with issues surrounding robotics in the cultivation of special crops. In addition, the topic of irrigation is represented by the expert Ekkehard Fricke, Chamber of Agriculture, Lower Saxony, and at the same time Chairman of the DLG Working Group for Irrigation, among others. Harald Kramer, Chamber of Agriculture, North Rhine-Westphalia, as a specialist in spraying systems, provides the commentary for the corresponding live technical demonstrations, e.g. on internal spray cleaning, and offers support.
Extended accompanying programme: Close link between congress, forums and practice
Once again this year the major attraction, the machine demonstrations, is also an important element of the event. The visitors can have a close look at the numerous innovations in use on the grounds. The German schools and research institutes are participating more intensively in the trade fair in 2016. At the 62nd German Winegrowers' Congress experts discuss the latest industry trends. The conference and the DLG forums are closely linked to the trade fair: In the new tasting zone visitors can sample products which were made using the processes presented at the congresses and INTERVITIS INTERFRUCTA HORTITECHNICA.
"The event has already been a fixed date in our calendar for many years. We find it very exciting that it is now being further developed", states Karsten Köhler, Head of Event Management at agricultural machinery manufacturer Fendt. "We are delighted that we can now present our products for the area of winegrowing and the cultivation of special crops at a trade fair to an even bigger target group."
Lots of opportunities to exchange information and network
Manufacturers and visitors can share their experiences and knowledge here over a good glass of wine in a relaxed ambience. "The Wine Meet - Welcome to the Best Locations" provides an ideal platform for intensive discussions between academics, consultants, exhibitors and visitors. Numerous forums and other networking events allow the guests to establish contacts and take home fresh impetus and inspiration for their daily work.
Date changed to autumn
In 2016 the trade fair is being organised for the first time in autumn. The event takes place at an ideal time to provide information on technical innovations after the harvest. The visitors benefit from their recent experiences of the previous season and receive their orders in good time before the next season starts.
