Climate change, concentration of companies and digitalisation: young people in the industry are faced with a large number of challenges. Young winegrowers, young farmers, students and apprentices will be able to obtain information on the future of their occupational profiles and the latest industry topics on the third day of the International technology trade fair for wine, juice and special crops. Young talents will have the opportunity to exchange information on these topics with experts from industry and research.
Finally, they will be able to further extend their network during the Young Professionals' Party. Working as a winegrower or a farmer no longer means just following traditions. Companies are becoming larger while automation has also spread to winegrowing and agriculture. Drones and self-driving tractors are topics which affect the industry. It is becoming increasingly more important for young people to secure the future of their occupational profile. Young winegrowers, young farmers, students and apprentices will be able to see what these jobs now entail and what challenges are faced by the industry during the Young Professionals Day' on 29 November 2016 during INTERVITIS INTERFRUCTA HORTITECHNICA .
Information event, discussion platform and party
An increasing number of companies expect young professionals in the industry to possess an even wider range of knowledge. The DLG Forum, Geisenheim University and the Neustadt Wine Campus will therefore offer young talents a glimpse of the future and provide them with information on jobs and careers. The Young Professionals' Day will therefore start at 11.00 with a talk entitled "Leading and motivating employees: "How do I say it to my employees?" The speaker Helma Ostermayer, who holds a degree in social education, will explain in her talk how good employee communication and motivation can also be successful in a large company. In the presentation "From customer to fan - how do I use social media for my company and benefit?" Jutta Zeisset will show how winegrowers and farmers can profit from social media. She is the manager of a farm shop with 30 employees. She also assists companies, associations and clubs as a social media and online marketing manager. The German Agricultural Society will also provide visitors with up-to-date, industry-specific information during specialist talks while a job wall will display the latest job offers from the exhibitors.
Globalisation, climate change and changing consumption patterns among customers are additional challenges facing the industry. During the Young Winegrowers' Congress, which will be held from 16.00 to 18.00 under the motto "Out with the old and in with the new - or do we stick with tradition?", visitors to the Young Professionals' Day will actively contribute to the discussion on the shaping of the future in their industry. The participants in the podium discussion will be ARD meteorologist Sven Plöger, Prof. Dr. Marc Dreßler from Neustadt Wine Campus and Andreas Zenz from the wine producing company Zimmermann-Graeff & Müller GmbH & Co. KG. The event is free of charge for trade fair visitors. Registration is not required.
From 18.00 onwards, the Young Professionals' Party will round off the day in a relaxed atmosphere. Over a glass of good wine and with a choice of different food trucks, young professionals will be able to network with potential employers, business partners and like-minded people.
