100 years of agricultural engineering in Feucht

The green forage harvesting specialist AGCO Feucht GmbH – previously FELLA-Werke GmbH – is preparing to celebrate special anniversaries for its FELLA, FENDT and Massey Ferguson brands in 2017 and 2018.

The success story of agricultural machines from Franconia began 100 years ago when Bayerische Eggenfabrik AG was founded in Feucht, near Nuremberg, where the headquarters of the company – since rebranded as AGCO Feucht GmbH in 2015 – remains today. The company is now the centre of excellence for green forage harvesting technology in the AGCO Group, holding a leading position in the demanding forage harvesting technology sector. Together with the FELLA, FENDT and Massey Ferguson brands, AGCO Feucht GmbH will begin celebrating these brands' anniversaries in September 2017 while simultaneously looking forward to driving further specialisation in harvesting technology in the future.

Tradition, innovation and passion

As the First World War drew to an end, the demand for agricultural equipment from the metalworking industry increased. Josef Hackl and Albert Löffler from Munich-based Isaria-Zählerwerke took advantage of this trend; in 1917 they planned to expand capacity for harrow production. This culminated in the official foundation of Bayerische Eggenfabrik AG in Feucht, near Nuremberg, in 1918.

1932 saw the introduction of grass mowers, hay tedders, horse rakes and reaper-binders into the company portfolio. And when the first conditioner with tine rotor was awarded the bronze medal by the DLG, Germany found itself in the midst of an economic boom. That was in the year 1953 and farmers across Europe were already relying on the outstanding quality of the agricultural technology produced in Bavaria. In 1980, the decision was made to specialise in green forage harvesting – and with great success.

A great deal of passion, driven by the spirit of German engineering and, of course, employees who guarantee exceptional quality thanks to their expertise and eye for detail enabled a centre of excellence for green forage harvesting whose experience is second to none to be established over the course of a century in Feucht, near Nuremberg.

Three brands from a single source in good stead for the future

The comprehensive range of drum and disc mowers, tedders and rakes has gained wide recognition under the FELLA brand name, representing efficiency and reliability in green forage harvesting worldwide. Today, the Feucht location also develops and produces green forage machines for the FENDT and Massey Ferguson brands. The AGCO Group is continuing on a strategic course in this way, with the aim of establishing the premium FENDT brand and the strongly internationally networked Massey Ferguson brand as full-line suppliers. The range offered by FELLA, FENDT and Massey Ferguson will thus be able to meet all the strict requirements of their international clientele even more effectively in the future, as well as opening up new customer segments. AGCO is thus emphasising the importance of the Feucht location and planning to expand its manufacturing. Extremely high-quality green forage technology with the "Made in Feucht" label will be even more at home in fields all around the globe.
