Agritechnica Asia expands with the launch of Systems & Components Asia

This year's Agritechnica Asia trade fair in Bangkok will include the new Systems & Components Asia exhibition for the first time. Systems & Components, which was introduced at Agritechnica 2013 in Hanover, is a platform where visitors involved in research and development, procurement and purchasing at original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) in the off-highway sector can find out about innovations in the fields of engines, hydraulics, axles, gearboxes, cabins, electronics and other components.

The concept has proved to be a strong trendsetter and solution provider for the agricultural machinery sector, with the parts supply industry taking the opportunity to showcase their latest developments. At Agritechnica 2017, the focus at Systems & Components was on how the interaction of different technologies could bring new and smart mobile farming applications to agriculture. Introducing this new element to Agritechnica Asia will help promote increased standards of farm machinery in Southeast Asian markets.

“The Systems & Components Asia special show will be an important part of Agritechnica Asia 2018, and our Hosted Buyer Program, whereby we are able to invite a large group of decision makers, will assure exhibitors that their top clients will be present,” Katharina Staske, the Project Manager of Agritechnica Asia, said. “As the gateway to Southeast Asia, with its rapid rate of growth and industrialization, Bangkok is the ideal location for the first edition of Systems & Components to take place out of Europe.”

Special Show: “Maintenance”

Together with partner companies and associations, Systems & Components Asia will present a special feature touching on every aspect of maintenance operations, from the basics to the most-advanced techniques. There will be two distinct parts to the feature: one dedicated to “Smart and Predictive Maintenance”, where companies can showcase their innovative products in hydraulics, transmissions, engines, cabins and the human-machine interface; and the other highlighting “Basic Maintenance”, with live demonstrations and equipment workshops where the topics include PTO shafts, gearbox sealing, tractor maintenance and tires.

“An important aspect of agricultural mechanization is preserving the economic-functional value of machines and implements through servicing and maintenance to increase their lifespan and reducing breakdowns and malfunctions,” Dr. Raffaele Talarico, a DLG expert for Systems & Components International, said. “Today, machine maintenance is on the way to a new age. In the past, a machine had to fail before it could be repaired, but now intelligent systems detect a malfunction before it even occurs.

“Prevention is a simple word, but it covers an entire concept,” Talarico added. “We aim to demonstrate at Systems & Components Asia that intelligent, forward-looking maintenance operations can lead to enormous cost savings.”

Cooperation with Thai Government

Thailand's Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives is supporting Agritechnica Asia and Systems & Components Asia to better target the specific needs of the rapidly developing Southeast Asian market.

“We are focused on the implementation of a project to improve agricultural production,” the country's Deputy Minister of Commerce and former Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives, Chutima Bunyapraphasara, said.

“We want to reduce inequality and create stability in Thailand's farming sector, and the plans we are implementing include efforts to improve the knowledge of farmers through learning centers and other initiatives, as well as promoting agricultural mechanization to reduce the labor requirement and increase efficiency in the sector.”

The first Agritechnica Asia, which took place in March 2017, hosted 89 exhibitors from 20 countries and welcomed more than 8,200 visitors from 76 countries. This second edition of the trade fair, which is jointly organized by DLG International GmbH and VNU Exhibitions Asia Pacific, will take place at the BITEC exhibition grounds in Bangkok, Thailand, from 22 to 24 August 2018.
