Case IH receives an ASABE 2020 Innovation award for the Magnum AFS Connect

The American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE) have included an innovative technology from Case IH, in their annual AE50 Awards. Companies around the world submit entries to the annual competition, and the 50 best products, which are judged as having the most impact in advanced engineering for the food and agricultural industries by a panel of international engineering experts, are admitted to the list.

Case IH has won recognition for the Magnum AFS Connect series tractor, which provides producers with the freedom to manage, monitor, adjust and transfer machine and agronomic data the way they want. A completely redesigned operating system enables remote display viewing, service diagnostics and software updates, and is further testament to Case IH´s focus on digitalization and precision farming.

In Europe, the Magnum AFS Connect has been presented to the press during the annual Case IH Field Days in September 2019 in Vienna, and the first public reveal was made last November at Agritechnica, the bi-annual agricultural machinery fair in Hannover. The first units for customer demonstrations and hand over will be available in Europe in the middle of 2020.

The Magnum AFS Connect

The range for the European market comprises the following models – Magnum 310, Magnum 340, Magnum 380 and Magnum 400 – with respective maximum power outputs of 382, 409, and 435hp. All models feature 8.7-litre FPT Industrial Cursor 9 six-cylinder turbocharged and intercooled engines which use the latest FPT Hi-eSCR2 technology to meet EU Stage V emissions legislation. The new Magnum 400 model is available with 21/5 PowerDrive transmission only, offering 40 and 50kph at reduced engine speed.  Models 380 and 400 can also be specified in rear-tracked Rowtrac configuration.

All models feature an extensively-revised cab, with new full-length door and optional keyless entry. The Multicontroller armrest controls and the AFS display have been redesigned to enhance operating ease. Key controls are configurable, allowing them to be set to suit the operator and the task. Options now include brake-assisted steering, for both wheeled and standard for Rowtrac models, to aid turns by automatically braking the inside rear track or wheel, and variable-ratio steering, to alter response rates for field or road work.

Technology developments include a two-way link between the new AFS Pro 1200 display in the cab and the Case IH AFS Connect telematics portal available through the mycaseih.com website. This allows farm managers to manage with precision their farm, fleet and data from their office or mobile device, monitoring current field operations, fleet information, agronomic data and more, with these activities recorded in real time.
