Preparations kick off for new “AveSui EuroTier South America” trade fair

The DLG (German Agricultural Society) and its local partner in Brazil, traditional media company Gessulli Agribusiness - publisher of Avicultura Industrial and Suinocultura Industrial and also organizer of the AveSui America Latina -  today announced they have started taking stand bookings for the new “AveSui EuroTier South America” exhibition. Taking place at the LAR Convention Centre, in the Brazilian state of Paraná, from 23rd to 25th July 2019, the new trade fair will be the first EuroTier-branded event to take place outside Germany, where the parent exhibition – EuroTier – is held.

The agreement to jointly host the AveSui EuroTier South America exhibition was announced in November at EuroTier, the leading trade fair for animal production, which attracts nearly 2,600 exhibitors and some 155,000 visitors. The new trade fair will benefit from the EuroTier brand, which offers a comprehensive overview of global topics and trends in modern animal husbandry in the pig, poultry, aquaculture and dairy sectors, and corresponding cross-species solutions such as feed.

“Many EuroTier exhibitors in Hanover have already registered interest in exhibiting at AveSui EuroTier South America,” said Saskia Zuleger, Show director, DLG International. “Feedback suggests they recognise an increasing need from farmers in South America to preview, on their home soil, technical solutions that are applicable to the Brazilian market, and this also ties in with our findings.”

With its 18 years of pioneering partnerships, technical seminars, launches and new business, AveSui has consolidated through the years as the meeting point of the poultry, pig and fish, always updated and bringing news for these sectors of Latin America. Many exhibitors who participated in the last edition have already confirmed their presence at AveSui EuroTier Souhth America, due to the high quality of the visitors and the excellent results.

The 2018 results from the DLG's monthly Agrifuture Insights survey – which gathers data from large-scale farmers in 13 countries – show that Brazilian farmers are enthusiastic investors in livestock technologies in the dairy and poultry sectors. The new trade fair is expected to showcase technical solutions from companies in the livestock sector that will be directly applicable to South American farmers and their local conditions and challenges. Market conditions for these technologies in South America are therefore very encouraging.

About 26 percent of Brazil's poultry farmers intend investing in new livestock buildings, while a similar number intend expanding their flocks. There is also a focus on poultry house hygiene and the use of improved genetics to produce high-quality meat and achieve a high health status. Both areas of activity will help Brazil boost exports, with unhindered access to the European market being a particular goal. Overall, 45 percent of poultry farmers questioned will invest in one or more aspects of their businesses in the next 12 months.

It is a similar story in Brazil's dairy sector, where 35 percent of farmers intend investing in the next year. Their investment areas include the purchase of breeding stock and the automation of milking. Studies show that productivity can be low on Brazilian dairy cattle farms, and on average one worker is responsible for 25 cows. This compares to up to 90 animals in the Netherlands, so productivity can be increased significantly through mechanisation.

This healthy environment for investment in animal farming will make AveSui EuroTier South America the perfect platform for manufacturers to showcase their products, and demonstrate the advantages that the latest technologies can bring to farmers.

“Animal husbandry professionals will be provided with a comprehensive insight into the various production and marketing segments for both specific species and across all product categories,” commented Jens Kremer, Director Business Development, DLG Exhibitions. “This will be supplemented with technical programmes that will be tailored to regional topics by DLG in cooperation with international and national partners.”

As agriculture and animal husbandry are key areas of the Brazilian economy, George Hiraiwa, the Agriculture Secretary of Paraná, is convinced that AveSui EuroTier South America in Brazil will be successful, because Parana is the production centre of conversion of vegetable protein to animal protein.

“Technological know-how, networking with international experts and knowledge of developments on international agricultural markets are decisive for the success of Brazilian agriculture,” he said. “The world-leading EuroTier trade fair, with its concept covering all segments and species, is a strong platform from which farmers in Brazil and the rest of South America will benefit.”

AveSui EuroTier South America will be the first of three new EuroTier branded events taking place for the first time in 2019. It will be followed by “EuroTier Middle East” from 2nd to 4th September and by “EuroTier China” from 19th to 21st September.

The first EuroTier trade fair – the name literally translates from German as “Euro animal” – was launched by DLG in 1993 at Hanover's Exhibition Grounds and now takes place every two years. Trade fairs have been an important part of the DLG's activities since it was founded in 1885. Its portfolio also includes the world-leading farm machinery exhibition Agritechnica, as well as 40 other exhibitions and events in numerous countries worldwide.

The DLG is a non-profit, politically independent, international organisation with a global network in agriculture and the food industry. Together with its subsidiaries, it offers internationally recognised platforms for the discussion of agricultural topics, trends and strategies, as well as leading business marketplaces for companies to tap into new markets and customers.
