Standard BiG Pack 1290 HDP II now with Krone V-knotter and PowerClean
Highest density and throughput in the field – now with eight snip-free double knotters and the unique Krone PowerClean knotter cleaning system as standard

The Krone Big Pack 1290 HDP II now boasts a number of standard features that used to be the privilege of the Generation 5. These are the well-proven PowerClean knotter fan and eight reliable Krone V-knotters that produce no scrap tail ends.

Old on the left, new on the right – the BiG Pack HDP II now comes standard with the snip-free Krone V-knotter and the unique Krone PowerClean cleaning fan, which removes dirt before it forms.

The Krone PowerClean is a hydraulic cleaning system that dusts not only the knotter bank but also other areas of the machine that are usually contaminated with debris. This is done by hydraulic turbines in the knotter bay that generate an overpressure which in turn prevents debris from depositing in the first place. The huge advantage of the unique system is that it produces an absolutely clean knotter bank that is considerably less prone to wear. Unlike the fifth generation BiG Pack, the BiG Pack 1290 HDP II powers the PowerClean system hydraulically. The oil flow is supplied by the tractor's hydraulic circuit and load sensing system. Owners of a BiG Pack HighSpeed Generation model will appreciate that PowerClean is also available as a retrofit solution for these models. The previously belt-driven radial fan is no longer available as a knotter cleaner.

Good accessibility to all components - BiG Pack 1290 HDP II with Krone V-Knotter and Krone PowerClean

Knotting on the BiG Pack 1290 HDP II now means there are no offcuts – thanks to the Krone V-knotter, an inhouse development, which produces no scrap tail ends. The V-knotter offers the best of two worlds: the enormous reliability of the established Deering double knotter and the absence of offcuts of the Cormick single knotter. Double knotters are indispensable on today's high-density balers. The additional challenge on the BiG Pack 1290 HDP II is its extremely high throughput of up to 85 tonnes per hour, which increases the pressure inside the bale. Due to its high throughputs and high bale densities, the BiG Pack 1290 HDP II uses a patented system of eight double knotters that produce effective binding knots which even in extreme conditions tie up bales reliably without producing scrap tail ends.

The knife is now in a fixed position in front of the twine holding disc, the scraper lever is equipped with an extractor and thus pulls the remaining twine in a loop into the starting knot. The knotter beak is open in a V-shape, allowing the loop knot to be pulled out downwards.

Another advantage of the KRONE V-knotter is its modified geometries and functions, especially the twine cutting function, which produces a finishing Deering knot with longer tail ends that translate into stronger knots. The starter knot on the following bale is a Cormick loop knot where the ends are formed into a bow which increases the knot strength. The double knotter eliminates those unwanted offcuts and keeps fields and the knotter bank clean.

Eight Krone V-knotters ensure maximum tying reliability without twine snippets as standard – the Krone PowerClean reliably keeps the knotters absolutely clean.
