AgroFarm attracts record crowds as state steps up support for farming

Expectations exceeded – visitor figures up – livestock producers seek opportunities to expand Frankfurt/Main, Germany, 16th February 2015 - With more than 12,000 visitors, the AgroFarm exhibition in Moscow on February 3 – 5, 2015, reached its best attendance figures yet, with Russian farmers travelling from as many as 70 different regions to attend this leading agricultural event that has been held annually since 2007.   Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich attended a conference at the show and emphasized the importance of state support of agriculture.

€28 million package for Baltic Milk Producers - With video

The European Commission yesterday confirmed its intention to adopt a €28m support package for milk producers in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. This new package will be the latest in a series adopted by the European Commission in response to the Russian ban on the importation of certain EU agricultural products.

European Commission announces emergency market support measures for the milk sector

The European Commission has announced today that it will open Private Storage Aid for butter, Skimmed Milk Powder (SMP) and certain cheeses in order to alleviate the impact of Russian restrictions on imports of EU dairy products and to limit the negative effects on the internal market. The Commission has also confirmed that the period for public intervention of butter & SMP will be extended until the end of the year.

EU dairy farms report 2013: latest data highlights volatility of milk producers' margins

The last five years have been characterized by wide variations in milk producers' margins from one year to the next, the 2013 edition of the EU dairy farms report published today by the European Commission shows. Based on data from the Farm Accountancy Data Network (FADN), the report provides information on the margins of EU milk producers from 2004 to 2011, as well as estimates for 2012.
