Agrievolution, the international body which brings together the associations representing agricultural machinery manufacturers in the world’s most important countries, is increasingly solid and organized. A protocol of understanding was signed April 27 in São Paulo, Brazil, ahead of the Agrishow mechanization exhibition, which sets the basic norms for the work of the organization in coordination and pursuing activities. The Agrievolution associations, CEMA, representing the European agricultural machinery industry, and those of manufacturers in Brazil, China, South Korea, Japan, India, Russia, the United State and Turkey, thereby formalized the creation of a Steering Committee and a Secretariat and set forth the operational procedures and setup to ensure increasing efficiency and continuity for Agrievolution’s specific tasks. Among them is the organization of biennial forums on agricultural mechanization, held in various venues around the world, and meetings on specific issues, especially those of the Agrievolution Economic Working Group for monitoring world markets in the sector.
FederUnacoma President Massimo Goldoni, a signatory of the agreement representing the European Committee CEMA as vice president, explained, “The globalization of the markets has made it necessary to conduct much more careful monitoring of agricultural machinery in the various areas of the world. And then there are issues of common interest for all the manufacturers’ associations such as, for example, safety standards and the compatibility of farm work with the environment as well as models for economic development in all parts of the world which require the evolution of machinery. This explains why it’s strategic for the big manufacturers’ associations to maintain relations, not in terms of competition but for cooperation.”
Noteworthy among the norms written into the protocol signed in São Paulo is the one covering the Steering Committee, to be made up of top-level representatives of their respective associations to all become Full Members given the right to vote. This means all the industry associations that organized Agrievolution meetings have this right along with a maximum of three General Members co-opted by the Steering Committee. The new regulations also name the criteria for the selection of president and vice president. The sitting president is the committee member responsible for organizing the most recent forum whose term expires with the staging of the event itself and the vice president is the member tapped for the organization of the successive forum. The new organizational arrangements will ensure more effective management for Agrievolution and extend its network to include specifically targeted contacts with mechanization industries, the political sphere, academics and professional farmers as well as to deploy the web for making data and information available online for a vast arena of businesspeople around the globe. But especially, the new organization helps to support development policies in different areas of the world, thanks to an accurate description of machines and technological innovations now available for all types of agricultural processing.
