Show Reviews: Doe Show and FTMTA

Last month Ernest Doe held the 53rd Doe Show in Ulting, Essex. In the Case IH marquee there was plenty to see including the Silver Magnum 340. This silver livery highlights the 25 years of evolution of the Magnum, which was the first tractor to be designed and built after the JI Case and International Harvester names were brought together. Also on show was a Case IH 5130 combine harvester featuring the newly designed and developed cab which brings new levels of comfort and efficiency.

This year’s FTMTA Farm Machinery Show was the best attended yet, with approximately 18,000 visitors over the three days. Despite the poor weather conditions, the opening day saw a strong turnout and the Case IH stand was busy with a number of deals finalised during the event. Case IH dealers supported the event, attending over the three days, and there was also excellent support from a number of the Case IH team.

SIMA Paris International Agri-Business Show

This year’s SIMA Show was well attended and although the weather was freezing outside, visitors spent the four days in the warm, hospitable environment of the venue. The Case IH stand featured a wide range of tractors on display and the UK team were on hand to meet UK dealers and customers who had travelled to Paris for the show. Case IH Product Specialist, Alun Scott, was on the stand to present the first launch of the new Maxxum, which is available in 3 models and is the first Case IH four-cylinder tractor to offer a CVX transmission. Unfortunately you won’t get to drive it until the end of this year, when it will be appearing in the UK.

Case IH Units Feature in Another Wedding!

A newlywed couple posed on their wedding day in front of Case IH tractors belonging to the Bride's father, Stephen Woods. The Bride, Rebecca Austin, said that her father has farmed his whole life and loves his Case IH and heritage tractors, proudly referring to these as his "fleet". Featured in South East Farmer magazine, the happy couple pose in front of a Quantum 65C and an MXU 100 X9, both used by Stephen Woods in Rhodes Minnis, Lyminge where he farms.

Axial-Flow - Amazing in Maize

Combine owner Mr Burdge faced a big challenge this winter – maize. After months of waterlogged and frozen ground, Mr Burge brought in his Axial-Flow 7120, sporting a Case IH eight-row folding header. The combine performed well and produced an excellent sample considering the difficult conditions. Case IH Product Demonstrator, Ed Watson said “The Case IH header left an excellent stubble finish at high forward speeds, leaving a blanket of chopped stalks which helped the combine to travel over the wet ground”. The Case IH maize header performed many demonstrations around the country on the Axial-Flow 9230 demo machine (seen in photos) and will be available next year for demos. When Mr Burdge spoke to T H White’s last, he was still facing more than 500 acres of harvest - hopefully the rest of the crop was fit enough to harvest after such a difficult season!

Getting it right with the help of a Quadtrac 600

Last year Suffolk farmer Andrew Maddever took delivery of the UK’s first Quadtrac 600 to replace his Quadtrac 450. The Maddevers, impressed by the advances which had been made to the Quadtrac, purchased the unit through the AtlasFram Group purchasing scheme, which the family business is a member of. During the Autumn months, the 600 was worked hard by its operators and during the first 800 hours of operation the fuel usage averaged 72 litres per hour including both field and road work. Andrew Maddever told Farm Contractor magazine “it doesn’t take long to appreciate just how good it is. Traction is superb and its manageable width makes it easy to move on the road” adding that “the cab is quiet and the suspension system is just remarkable”.
