Milan, May 2013 – Unione Italia Vini has announced the Novelty and Innovation Contest SIMEI-ENOVITIS also this year with the purpose of highlighting and rewarding the most innovative projects in the field of viticulture, enology and beverage industry. The Contest will be dedicated to Mr. Lucio Mastroberardino, President of U.I.V. who died prematurely some months ago: he was the person who wanted and supported the creation of the Contest to stimulate and reward commitment and excellence in this sector.

The exhibiting companies of the two trade shows - which will take place at the same time from 12 to 16 November 2013 in the halls of Fiera Milano Fairground at Rho - can send their applications with the necessary documents to the Secretariat within 1st July.

The sectors concerned are those of the vineyard-cellar production chain and of the beverage segment: agriculture, viticulture, enology, agricultural technology and wine, water, beverage bottling/packaging. The companies assuming they have developed a product, service or equipment with a significant innovation component, which may contribute to the development of all their sector, can present their applications that will be evaluated according to objective and very rigorous criteria.

To evaluate the presented projects (in accordance with the regulations published in the relevant section of the websites www.simei.it and www.enovitis.it) there will be a Technical Scientific Committee appointed for the occasion, to grant the contest also a concrete meaning and to meet the needs of the production sector. The members of the Committee will be high-profile figures appointed by the Board of Directors of Unione Italiana Vini: the current President of U.I.V., two vice-presidents representatives of the Italian and international viticulture and enology world and, in the same proportion, representatives of the scientific community and of wine-making companies members of  U.I.V.

The prize-awarding ceremony will be held in the inauguration day of the Exhibitions, on 12 November 2013.

A “Novelty Certificate SIMEI-ENOVITIS 2013” will be awarded to the companies whose projects will be deemed to meet the requirements stated in the rules of the contest. The Committee has the right to assign the “Innovation Award SIMEI-ENOVITIS 2013” to products and projects that will result to be particularly innovative and deserving a special mention.

The mission of Unione Italiana Vini has always been to promote the Italian companies of the wine-making field by contributing to the development of the sector in different ways. The Novelty and Innovation Contest SIMEI-ENOVITIS is one of the instruments used with the purpose of emphasizing the commitment of technologies and services producers,  by adequately highlighting the projects with recognized innovative content, which will then be of particular interest for the visitors of the exhibitions.
