The Nedap Cow Positioning system follows each cow in the barn via the signal that is sent by the Smarttag Neck. The Smarttag Neck makes Nedap Heat Detection with integrated Health Monitoring possible. Dairy farmers can consult the map of their barn online on the monitor of their pc, tablet or smartphone and keep track of the position of one or more cows in real-time. This could be with dairy cows that still have to go through the milking robot, cows in heat or cows that need to be treated by a veterinarian. Especially on larger farms this solution, which was introduced by Nedap in October 2014, saves farmers lots of time searching for cows.
For applications such as feeding, separating and milk measurement, Nedap Cow Positioning can be combined with Nedap ISO-identification. In addition, the system has now been fully integrated into the Nedap platform for cattle management.
Health Monitoring
The Nedap Smarttag Leg also has an extensive range of possibilities in Health Monitoring. The new functionality for Standing and Lying Monitoring observes five daily behavioural aspects of each cow: the time it spends standing, lying and walking, the number of times the animal stands up and the number of steps it takes each day. Deviations in one of these behavioural aspects may indicate that there is something the matter with the animal concerned.
