Mechanization: taking off at high regime

Agro Napló
Great crowds of the public flocking in and a packed schedule of events mark the first day of EIMA International, the great agricultural mechanization exposition getting started this morning at the Bologna Trade Fair Center. Bioenergy was in the foreground with workshop on Biomass and Energy: Made in Italy Experiences For New International Markets set up by ITABIA, the Italian Biomass Association, FederUnacoma and the publication Nuova Energia.

With the production of energy from renewable sources nearly tripling from 2005 to 2013 from 6.83% to 18%, the share of energy derived from renewable energy resources (RES) planned for 2020 appears to be within reach for Italy. At the meeting the relateurs stressed, moreover, that exploiting biomass for generating energy has significant fallout for the maintenance of land because other than making wastes and vegetable residues valuable these operations can help facilitate the recovery of marginal lands thanks to the introduction of dedicated energy crops. In this same area, control, safeguarding and the protection of the territory was taken up in a conference organized by FederUnacoma, Promoverde and LandMaking under the heading Hydrogeological Dissolution: An Issue for Mechanization. In Italy, 70% of the municipalities face hydrogeological risks with more than five million people living in areas of potential danger as the result of the erosion of land, the clearance of woods and forests, illegal construction and tracts of land cemented over. Prevention is enacted above all through sound farming practices. This means with the correct maintenance of the territory also by applying diversified operations for the land and income assigned to agricultural enterprises and farmers in relation to their governance over the territory. Also up front today were business meeting with foreign delegations which opened a window on opportunities for Made in Italy machinery and equipment and machinery for foreign markets. Under special focus was Project India, put together in 2013 by FederUnacoma and the Emilia Romagna Region for the promotion of agricultural mechanization in the country which reported tractor sales at 620,000 units to step up as the world's leading market in the sector. On another point of internationalization, great interest was shown for a seminar organized by FederUnacoma and ICE, the Italian Trade Agency, on the agricultural mechanization market in Australia for which there is already a fine flow of trade. Following tradition, EIMA International staged the Tractor of the Year 2015 ceremony with the award going to the Case IH Magnum CVX 380. In the category of specialized tractors, prestigious international recognition was accorded to the New Holland T3.75F and the Deutz Fahr 9340 TTV was tapped for the prize in the Golden Tractor for Design category. Innovative technologies put to the service of farming came to bear not only for the Tractor of the Year awards but also in numerous press conferences put on by the manufacturers with the spotlights on Claas Italia, Lombardini/Kholer, Zucchetti Centro Sistemi and Kramp Groep. On the purely technical front, a roundtable was held under the title Mandatory Function Control of Sprayers in Use prescribed by PAN: At What Point Are We and What Can be the Advantages for Operators? The Protagonists Speak Out. The assembly was organized by ENAMA, the Italian National Agricultural Mechanization Agency. The opening of the Bologna exposition also marked the start of a series of seminars led by  EuDaimon Engineering on Safety and Environment – Norms Required for Agro-Industry Sector, Voluntary Certification in Agro-Industry Sector and New Scenarios and Opportunities for Development: RDP 2014 2020. These issues opened today will run through the event until Saturday. And finally, other than the presentation of the periodical TinA-Technologia in Agricoltura and the Ancors seminar, Safety in Agriculture and the Role of Associations, today also witnessed a meeting of the Nationale Agia Council, the association which brings together young farming entrepreneurs.
