The Nedap Smarttag Neck already signalled animals that had demonstrated deviating feeding behaviour. As a supplement to this, a so-called ´notice requiring action´ is now issued immediately whenever a cow stops grazing. The farmer himself can set the time interval for which he wishes to be notified (i.e. after how many hours of ´non-grazing´). If a cow stops feeding, this can be an indication of milk fever, ketosis or udder infection. Nedap´s Smarttag Neck  makes immediate intervention possible.

The Smarttag measures a cow´s feeding behaviour using a 3G sensor. Using a newly developed algorithm, an immediate notification is issued whenever a cow has not eaten within an X number of hours.

The new functionality is available immediately for farmers who use Nedap´s heat-detection and feed-monitoring with the Smarttag Neck. Only an update to the software is required for this. In addition to feed-monitoring, the Nedap Smarttag Neck also detects when an animal is in heat. Heat is detected on the basis of specific, heat-related movements of the cow´s head and its mounting behaviour.
