The MAX CUT cutterbar is an in-house development from CLAAS and is manufactured at the forage harvesting machinery plant in Bad Saulgau. One of the key features of this cutterbar is its specially shaped mower bed, which is press-formed from a single piece of material. Its wave-like shape allows the cutting discs to be positioned further forward, thus providing even better cutting quality under all conditions. The large tunnel opening between the cutterbar skids, as well as their special shape, improve the self-cleaning effect and thus ensure high forage quality. The screw fastening concept of the cutterbar combines with continuous lubrication of the drive components to simplify maintenance and ensure both form stability and a long service life.
New DISCO 1100 flagship model
The new DISCO 1100 has a maximum working width of 10.70 m, but transport height is less than 4.0 m and transport width less than 3.0 m thanks to its hydraulically extendable mower units. The inner and outer protective covers fold in automatically as necessary. The transport locking device is hydraulically locked and unlocked during the folding process. This enables compact, manoeuvrable and safe transport. It is also possible to store the mower in the transport position. When developing the telescopic arms, CLAAS utilised the experience gained from the CLAAS COUGAR self-propelled mower. The DISCO 1100 is available in the two models, C BUSINESS and RC BUSINESS, equipped with either a steel tine conditioner (C) or a roller conditioner (RC). In addition to hydraulically folding protective covers, the mower unit is also equipped as standard with load-sensing comfort hydraulics, the ACTIVE FLOAT comfort suspension control system and hydraulic non-stop rear-collision protection. The DISCO 1100 BUSINESS is fully ISOBUS-capable and offers the customer convenient operating functionality. Accordingly, all of the important functions (e.g. extending the mowing units) can be assigned to the ISOBUS function buttons of the tractor. The mower can be operated using any ISOBUS terminal (e.g. COMMUNICATOR II or S 10).
Alternatively, CLAAS also offers its customers the option of controlling the DISCO 1100 C / RC BUSINESS using a commercially available tablet thanks to its recently introduced "EASY on board" app. It is also possible to operate the mower without using the terminal by means of a P2 hydraulic line and a single-acting control unit.
Professional technology from a mowing width of 2.60 m
CLAAS is expanding its front-mounted disc mower range with a compact, lighter-weight model that has a cutting width of 3.0 m. Thanks to its shortened mounted stand and its two-dimensional ground following, the new DISCO 3150 F adapts extremely well ground contours. This effect is supported by two strong suspension springs, which also reduce the ground pressure of the mower. Another optional feature is the ACTIVE FLOAT hydropneumatic suspension system. As on the other front-mounted mower models, the DISCO 3150 F also features the MAX CUT cutterbar. The standard equipment also includes SAFETY LINK overload protection, 850 rpm mowing capability and the quick blade change system.
The side-mounted DISCO 50 series has also been redeveloped for the 2016 season and features a new design. The new 2750 (C / RC), 3150 (C) and 3550 models with cutting widths of 2.60 m to
3.40 m now make this sophisticated technology available to smaller farm operations as well. Alongside many different refinements and the MAX CUT cutterbar, the new technical features also include an optional storage device which allows the unit to be stored in a space-saving vertical position. The mounted stand has been optimised for easier attachment and detachment, while ease of maintenance has also been improved.
Also featuring a new design are the trailed DISCO 3150 TC / TRC mowers with side drawbar, the MAX CUT cutterbar and other refinements. All of this means that CLAAS is now offering professional mowing technology for almost all DISCO models with its MAX CUT cutterbar – ranging from the smallest basic rear-mounted unit with a cutting width of 2.60 m, spring suspension and no conditioner, to the largest tractor-mounted mowing combination currently available which has a cutting width of 10.70 m and conditioner.
