Modern agricultural machines are becoming ever more powerful and offer an increasing range of functions. But as performance increases, so too do dimensions, which can affect visibility. A lot of the tough physical jobs of the past are now being taken over by high-tech solutions. The main priority here must be adapting the technology to the people, not vice-versa. The market needs competitive solutions.
Systems & Components
Systems & Components will be held from 10 to 14 November 2015 (preview days 8 and 9 November) under the aegis of Agritechnica, the world's leading trade fair for agricultural machinery and equipment in Hanover. Taking “Future Farming” as its keynote theme, the platform will present four topical issues: efficiency, reliability, environmental protection, and ergonomics/ safety. Appealing to engineers, developers, purchasers, manufacturers and dealers in the agricultural industry and related fields, this international platform offers visitors a three-fold programme: Pathways, Forum and Special Show.
Ergonomics and Safety
Visitors are guided through marked pathways with a printed guide. One of the themes is Ergonomics and Safety, where the focus will not only be on safety aspects such as avoiding hazards, minimising risks or the design and use of guards and shields, but also on physical and cognitive ergonomics. Visitors will find a whole host of protective equipment and control systems as well as information on how to handle machines and emission (noise and vibration) reduction measures. The layout of workplaces, information on posture and measures to combat the long-term effects of repetitive movements round off the portfolio. Cognitive ergonomics, on the other hand, focuses on topics such as the mental workload, skilled performance and potential human-machine interfaces.
This pathway covers all key assemblies that are relevant to Systems & Components, such as engines, hydraulics, axles, transmission, cab electronics and software. In the Ergonomics and Safety pathway, exhibitors including Bosch Rexroth, Claas Industrietechnik, Hawe Hydraulik, Hydac International, Thermamax and Walvoil will be presenting their solutions.
Preview on solutions
Among the new developments on show will be the Hydac DIN 13849 certified software development tool “Match” which enables designers to map out an entire development process: problem definition, risk analysis, computer-aided simulation, interface and software-in-the-loop with a hardware test environment, documentation and operating instructions.
Bosch Rexroth will be launching its new Hydraulic Quick Stop for forage harvesters. A specially modified axial piston pump in a closed control circuit generates the necessary braking torque within 80 milliseconds of identifying a foreign object, avoiding costly damage to the cutterhead.
The Claas CAT 4 cab filter system guarantees maximum respiratory protection to DIN 15695. The four-stage system filters out dust, aerosols and vapours (gases) in the cab extremely efficiently and reduces particle contamination by more than 99.8%.
An example of improved workplace ergonomics will be presented by Walvoil with its new CJW ISOBUS joystick. Its many functions, compact size and ISOBUS compatibility simplify the human-machine interface. Redundant sensors and a variety of technologies increase safety and availability, and its simple, ergonomic design reduces physical and cognitive operator fatigue. Built to last with high-quality components, the joystick is extremely reliable and resistant to failure.
