There were already all the premises for a successful event and actually the final balance of Enovitis in Campo Puglia 2016 has repeated the success of the last edition in Sicily. The edition which was on scene on 17 and 18 June in Corato (Bari) in the vineyards of Torrevento farm, has been indeed characterised by significant figures: a record in the number of exhibitors: over 140 among companies and brands representing the best technology for wine- and olive-growing (they were 90 in the 2015 edition in Baglio Biesina), which, in the 270 rows and almost 10,000 square metres of static exhibition and conference areas, have welcomed over 6,500 qualified professional operators, coming not only from the neighbouring regions of the whole Central and Southern Italy, but even from the North and from abroad, as a testimony to the value of the exhibition labelled "Unione Italiana Vini – Veronafiere", a strategic opportunity to verify the latest technological innovations available in the market.
“The 11th edition of Enovitis in Campo – stated Giovanni Mantovani, General Manager of Veronafiere - has confirmed the considerable vitality of Southern Italy, a territory that was able to take up the challenges of the market in the wine-growing and producing sector. In the two days of exhibition we remarked a very wide attendance of qualified operators, agronomists, experts, entrepreneurs and consultants interested in innovations and training, which are crucial elements to direct the primary sector towards a higher sustainability. Thanks to the innovative practices and technologies aimed at making farms more competitive, we have strengthened the ideal bridge connecting Enovitis in Campo to Fieragricola of Verona, an internationally renowned exhibition for agriculture, which will celebrate its 120 years in 2018. We hope that the co-operation with Unione Italiana Vini will bring better and better results, even in other sectors”.
A comprehensive programme of events
Twelve events were scheduled in the supporting programme this year: technical-scientific seminars, conferences and workshops which took place in the three dedicated tensile structures (Vine, Decanter and Oil Mill, the latter organised in co-operation with CNO) for a wide in-depth analysis of the latest topics concerning the wine and oil supply chains. These meetings were also attended by the Councillor responsible for Agriculture in the region Apulia, Leonardo Di Gioia, and by the senator Dario Stefàno. A large attendance was also registered in the guided tours to see the exhibited equipment.
“Enovitis in Campo Puglia – said Francesco Pavanello, General Manager of Unione Italiana Vini – confirms the success of the original format of this event, characterised by a "dynamic exhibition" with demonstrations in the field accompanied by a programme of side events for an in-depth study particularly focused on training and information. The region Apulia we saw in these last few days is an entrepreneurial Apulia, which steps on the accelerator for the improvement of its productions. It is a lively region with regard to wine and oil growing and producing, but also considering the technological offering: indeed, a part of the exhibitors, participating for the first time, came from this territory. Special thanks to Francesco Liantonio, our host at Torrevento farm, which effectively and remarkably collaborated with the organiser for the success of the event”.
“Enovitis in campo - commented Francesco Liantonio, President of Torrevento – has been a great opportunity to understand how technology and innovation could meet with our vineyards. A great organisational effort which allowed to achieve the extraordinary result to bring the best innovation here in Apulia. In these two days, I saw how our winegrowers were satisfied and pleased to personally experience the real technology, the real innovation: they came back to their vineyards with concrete ideas of investment. I think that this exchange of views has been useful. Today, we have the real awareness that our viticultural story, which has taken great strides in the last few years, is no longer a "Cinderella", but it is a leader region, which can support important projects and plans of eco-sustainable development to safeguard the image of the great "Made in Italy" and of the Italian excellence”.
The awards to the new technologies
The Apulia edition of Enovitis in Campo, which was sponsored by the Region Apulia and FederUnacoma, closed with the official ceremony to award the technologies that entered the palmarès of the Innovation Challenge (www.enovitisincampo.it for details), the contest expressly conceived to highlight the technological innovations presented at the exhibition, giving special prominence to the aspects of environmental, ethic-social and economic sustainability of the wine-making supply chain.
Finally, “Vote for the Tractor”, the contest organised by UIV in co-operation with Unima and Macgest, the portal of agricultural mechanization. The winners were proclaimed by the end users who voted during the exhibition: on the podium, Fendt with Series 211 F in the standard category – plus the two mentions as the "Best Quality/Price” and “Next Purchase” – and Antonio Carraro with TGF 10900 in the equal-wheel tractors category and Mach 2 in the crawlers and semi-crawlers category.
