The Agricultural Industry Electronics Foundation (AEF) has certified two functionalities of the CLAAS app at the same time – ISOBUS UT and Auxiliary Control. The abbreviation UT stands for Universal Terminal, which means that the app can be used to operate a wide range of ISOBUS implements. This has the great advantage that users only need one terminal for all the different implements. Auxiliary Control, on the other hand, means enhanced user-friendliness and flexibility as the various implement functions can be transferred from the app to the function buttons of any Aux-compatible multifunction control lever.
Having obtained certification, the EASY on board app is now listed in the official AEF database. Farmers and contractors can, for example, use this database to check which implements can be controlled with the EASY on board app before making a new investment.
How the EASY on board app works
The flexible options offered by a tablet PC, which is already in use on many farms, make the EASY on board app a low-cost alternative to the standard ISOBUS terminal. When it is not being used to control an implement, a tablet can be used all year round for many other agricultural and non-agricultural purposes – from surfing the internet to answering e-mails, navigation to checking the weather forecast. With the EASY on board app, every driver can use his or her personal tablet as a terminal for machine control.
To use the EASY on board app, you need an Apple tablet (iPad Air or newer) with the operating system IOS 9.0 or later. On the machine side, the app assumes that the implement and tractor are connected by an ISOBUS cable and the rear ISOBUS socket. A special WLAN adapter (CWI - CLAAS Wireless Interface) and a universal mount for the tablet are also needed. Both are available from CLAAS dealers.
The WLAN adapter, which is connected to the in-cab ISOBUS socket on the tractor, allows communication between the implement and the tablet; at the same time, the socket and adapter also guarantee a reliable power supply to the tablet.
The EASY on board app is available in the App Store for free download to a tablet. It just has to be installed once and creates the operating display for the implement currently in use on the touchscreen. From this display, the implement can be operated very easily by touching the screen.

Harsewinkel/Bad Saulgau, Mai 2017. Die EASY on board App von CLAAS hat jetzt die offizielle AEF-Zertifizierung als ISOBUS-Terminal erhalten. Diese App ist die erste und bislang auch einzige Anwendung für einen Tablet PC, mit der sich jedes beliebige ISOBUS-Anbaugerät bedienen lässt.
Mit ISOBUS UT und Auxiliary Control hat die Agricultural Industry Electronics Foundation (AEF) gleich zwei Funktionsbereiche der CLAAS App zertifiziert. Das Kürzel UT steht für den Begriff Universal Terminal und damit die Möglichkeit, die App zur Bedienung der verschiedensten ISOBUS-Geräte zu nutzen. Das bietet den grundsätzlichen Vorteil, dass Anwender nur noch ein Terminal für die verschiedenen Anbaugeräte brauchen. Auxiliary control hingegen bedeutet mehr Bedienkomfort und Flexibilität, da sich die verschiedensten Gerätefunktionen von der App auf die Funktionstasten eines jeden Aux-fähigen Multifunktionshebels übertragen lassen.
Aufgrund der erfolgreichen Zertifizierung ist die EASY on board App nunmehr in der offiziellen AEF-Datenbank gelistet. In dieser Datenbank können Landwirte und Lohnunternehmer beispielsweise vor einer Neuinvestition prüfen, welche Anbaugeräte sich mit der EASY on board App steuern lassen.
So funktioniert die EASY on board App
Aufgrund der flexiblen Nutzungsmöglichkeiten eines Tablet PCs, der auf vielen Betrieben schon vorhanden ist, kann die EASY on board App eine kostengünstige Alternative zum Standard ISOBUS-Terminal sein. Ob Surfen im Internet oder Bearbeiten von E-Mails, ob Navigation oder Wetterprognose – der Tablet PC lässt sich rund ums Jahr und immer dann, wenn er nicht für die Steuerung einer Anbaumaschine benötigt wird, auch für zahlreiche andere Anwendungen im landwirtschaftlichen und nicht-landwirtschaftlichen Bereich nutzen. Dank der EASY on board App ist es außerdem möglich, dass jeder Fahrer sein persönliches Tablet als Terminal für die Maschinensteuerung verwendet.
Um die EASY on board App zu nutzen, wird ein Apple Tablet ab dem Modell iPad Air oder neuer mit dem Betriebssystem IOS 9.0 oder höher benötigt. Maschinenseitig setzt die App voraus, dass Anbaugerät und Traktor über ein ISOBUS-Kabel und die ISOBUS-Hecksteckdose verbunden sind. Außerdem ist ein spezieller WLAN Adapter (CWI - CLAAS Wireless Interface) sowie ein Universalhalter für das Tablet erforderlich. Beides ist über den CLAAS Vertriebspartner erhältlich.
Über den WLAN Adapter, der mit der inCab ISOBUS-Steckdose des Traktors verbunden wird, erfolgt die Kommunikation zwischen Anbaugerät und Tablet. Steckdose und Adapter sorgen zugleich für die zuverlässige Stromversorgung des Tablets.
Die EASY on board App steht kostenfrei im App Store für den Download auf das Tablet zur Verfügung. Sie muss einmalig installiert werden und bildet dann die Bedienmaske des jeweils genutzten Anbaugerätes auf dem Touchscreen-Bildschirm ab. Über diese Maske lässt sich das Gerät ganz einfach per Fingerdruck bedienen.
