"The record-breaking number of exhibitors who will take part in Enovitis in campo 2017 reaffirms the validity of an event that is unique of its kind and really significant for Unione Italiana Vini. Through field tests and demonstrations in the vineyard, we will actually propose the best technologies of the wine-making sector at the service of sustainability, the key concept of this event. Over 130 manufacturers of specialised products and machines will enliven the 340 demonstration rows of vines at Villabella Vineyards, an important wine-growing and producing company, hosting the 2017 edition of Enovitis in campo this year. The main Convention of the event is very interesting: it will be dedicated to the newborn "DOC delle Venezie", a territorial and productive model of aggregation that has been supported and promoted by UIV since its first steps. It has been created to facilitate the promotion and identity enhancement of Pinot Grigio. This is a virtuous example of simplification in the Italian DOC ("Controlled Origin Denomination") system, which will be widely illustrated during the Convention and which we hope can also be appropriate for other situations”.
This is the comment of Paolo Castelletti, Secretary-General of Unione Italiana Vini, about the participants' boom in the 2017 edition of Enovitis in campo, historic event organised by UIV and Veronafiere, in cooperation with Fieragricola. It will take place on 22 and 23 June in Cavaion Veronese at the Villabella Vineyards (in the province of Verona, in the area of Bardolino classico), and it will present an important convention which will be the focus of the event.
Besides the convention, the comprehensive programme will propose a large number of side events. As far as professional training is concerned, two technical workshops will be organised, which will regard the "Management of under-vine areas in the vineyard" and "Precision Viticulture ", with growth forecast of the sector. Again we will have the classic contest "Vote for the Tractor " organised by Unione Italiana Vini in cooperation with the portal www.macgest.com, in order to award the best vineyard and orchard tractors exhibited at the event, on the basis of their technical and qualitative parameters. In addition, there will be several guided tours concerning some of the best machines displayed: the initiative is organised by Unione Italiana Vini in cooperation with Valeria Fasoli, agronomist, winemaking expert and scientific director of the project. It will propose an itinerary directly in the vineyard, with stages at the designated positions of the machines that have been selected for their sustainability and efficiency.

EVENTS
CONVENTION: “PINOT GRIGIO DELLE VENEZIE: QUALITATIVE EVOLUTION AND MARKET EXPECTATIONS”
Thursday, 22 June – 10.00am
The birth of the new "D.O.C. delle Venezie” and the rapid expansion of the cultivation areas of Pinot Grigio have turned the spotlight on a phenomenon of high significance, both nationally and worldwide. Today the production of Pinot Grigio just in the region of Triveneto makes up 85% of the overall national amount produced and 43% of the worldwide output, with around 2 million hectolitres (260 million bottles), spread over more than 20,000 hectares. The DOC and the rapid expansion of the growing areas of Pinot Grigio are thus at centre of the world market and this means that today Pinot Grigio is facing a challenge: increasing its own qualitative standards to keep up with the market expectations. A forced step of this evolution will be a redefinition of the practises used in vineyards and in wineries to obtain a general perceivable improvement of production standards.
WORKSHOP: “MANAGEMENT OF UNDER-VINE AREAS IN THE VINEYARD: COMPARISON OF TECHNIQUES”
Thursday, 22 June – 4.00pm
The management of under-vine areas remains a hot topic in viticulture due to the increasing attention to the environmental impact of traditional management techniques and to the increasingly restrictive production regulations. Management costs, environmental impact, regulatory developments and forecast for the future of the sector: these are only a few of the issues for which the different existing solutions will be compared during the workshop.
WORKSHOP: “PRECISION VITICULTURE: GROWTH FORECAST OF THE SECTOR”
Friday, 23 June – 11.30am
Precision agriculture has enormous growth potential even in the viticultural sector. Currently, only 1% of the Italian farming area is experiencing an application of robots and sensors. This workshop intends to analyse costs and advantages of the main applications that are expected to be implemented in viticulture in the next future. Different cultivation practises will be examined, among which grape harvest, control of health and nutritional conditions, phenological stage, climate trends, etc.
