Jozef Rúček, Managing Director for Mitas in Russia, says: “Through this project we want to highlight that Mitas tires can work reliably and efficiently in all conditions. At Lake Baikal this was pushed towards the extreme but it is good to know that even in such demanding conditions Mitas tires are a partner that farmers can rely on.
“2017 is the “Year of Ecology” in Russia. Thanks to this initiative we helped to draw attention to Lake Baikal itself and we believe that our project will be another piece in the mosaic of educating about this wonderful area.”
The thickness of ice at Lake Baikal was proved by the Rostselmash 5.5 meters wide tractor that weighed 11,690 kilograms and was mounted with Mitas AC85 duals. In March, when the project took place, ice at Lake Baikal is about 1 meter thick, so even a heavy agricultural machinery would not break the ice.
Mitas and Rostselmash are long term business partners. Mitas is an original equipment supplier of tires for Versatile tractors and top of the range combines for the Russian market.
Mitas AC85, which was used for the Lake Baikal expedition, is a durable radial tire with balanced characteristics for a wide range of applications, both in the field and on the road. A specific feature of Mitas AC 85 is a large contact area to enhance traction.
