EuroTier is the world's leading trade fair for animal production. This year more than 2,500 exhibitors from 62 countries will be presenting their new and further developments at the Hanover Exhibition Grounds, showing modern animal husbandry in all its facets. An increasingly digitally networked world offers new opportunities for successfully combining productivity and animal welfare, as well as sustainable handling of natural resources. To achieve this, farmers need good, usable know-how and efficiently networked technologies. This year's EuroTier, under the guiding theme “Digital Animal Farming” will be showing the latest developments in animal husbandry.
Special “Digital Animal Farming”
The cross-species special feature, “Digital Animal Farming”, deals with the topic of digitizing production processes in animal housing and on the farm. Whether in the fields of production monitoring, animal health and animal welfare, the farm nutrient balance, or transparency vis-à-vis customers, through the use of sensors and targeted data management it is now possible to give equal consideration to the needs of the animals, the environment, farmers and consumers. Networking of systems and technologies on the farm can simplify management and help to avoid errors. On a dedicated area in Hall 26, the DLG (German Agricultural Society) together with EuroTier exhibitors and consultancy institutions will be presenting relevant exhibits and providing explanations relating to cattle, pig and poultry farming in the digital age, and will communicate this fascinating theme to visitors via short presentations and lectures, as well as panel discussions.
Special feature – “Whole-farm concepts for keeping pigs”
At a special feature initiated by the Chambers of Agriculture, the Regional Offices and State Agencies for Agriculture and DLG, the focus will be on “Whole-farm concepts for pig keeping”. The goal is to drive the development of new keeping concepts, and this year attention will focus on pig finishing. At the special feature, located in Hall 16 on Stand C36, experts will explain pig housing models developed specifically for EuroTier.
“TopTierTreff” – Top cattle breeding genetics
Robust cows with a long productive life are among the prime requirements of forward-looking dairy cattle farming. That is why cattle genetics are becoming increasingly important. Once again this year, EuroTier will provide a unique overview of Europe's top cattle breeding genetics. Leading German and international breeding organizations and companies will be showing animals they have bred at the “TopTierTreff” in Hall 11, using this one-off platform to present their top genetics to a first-class international expert public. Consequently the “TopTierTreff” will again be one of the attractions for cattle farmers from Germany and abroad. Presentations in German will be held there daily, and at certain times they will be in English and Russian too. Best-of-breed animals will be shown.
Presentations and Discussion Panels at the EuroTier Forums
Selected topics from cattle, pig and poultry farming will be examined in detail at the daily EuroTier Forums (Cattle in Hall 12, Pig in Hall 16 and Poultry in Hall 17). Experts from the fields of consultancy, business, academia and practical farming will address topical issues concerning keeping, feeding and acceptance of animal husbandry in society that are currently of particular interest to livestock farmers.
EnergyDecentral and BIOGAS Convention
At EnergyDecentral, the international trade fair for innovative energy supply, 284 specialized exhibitors, as well as over 250 further exhibitors, whose product ranges are of interest to both livestock farmers and bioenergy specialists, will be presenting the latest trends and international developments in the energy industry covering aspects of decentralized heat and electricity supplies. The BIOGAS Convention, organized by the German Biogas Association, is being held in parallel with EnergyDecentral for the second time this year, and this partnership creates a unique platform for new trends and innovations in the biogas industry.
This year's Outdoor Special at EnergyDecentral will focus on the topic of “Biogenic solid fuels – wood and stalk-type biomass” – How can wood chips and pellets satisfy the energy demand in agribusiness? How can unused potentials from straw be used to produce energy? A series of live presentations will highlight these and other questions.
International pavilion participation continues to increase at EuroTier 2018
Eleven countries will be officially represented this year in country pavilions, with Canada, the Republic of Ireland and Pakistan all taking advantage of this attractive way to be present at the world's leading international exhibition for the livestock sector. Bulgaria, China, Denmark, Finland, France, South Korea, Spain and the United Kingdom will also be represented.
bpt Congress to coincide with EuroTier again
The German Association of Practicing Veterinarians (bpt) will be holding its annual congress, and associated specialist exhibition “Veterinarian Medicine”, to overlap with EuroTier at the Hanover Exhibition Grounds again this year. This will be held in German. An “International Animal Health Event” on 15 November, organized jointly by DLG, bpt and the University of Veterinary Medicine Hanover, will again serve veterinarians from all over the world as a meeting place and contact forum, but also as a link between EuroTier and the bpt congress. Furthermore, a new Animal Welfare Award will be presented for the first time at this year's event.
Future forum on all aspects of professional animal husbandry
EuroTier is considered to be the most important future forum on all aspects of professional animal husbandry. This is because global technology trends are presented among the thousands of exhibits. At the same time, important issues in modern animal husbandry and animal breeding are addressed through the technical program. This year too, together with partners from the fields of business, science and research, advisory and extension services, trade associations and organizations, the DLG will again be presenting a comprehensive technical program to supplement the presentations offered by exhibitors. This will include international conferences and events on topical trends and key developments in the sector. Among the events planned are:

Campus & Career – the platform for occupations and careers, science and research
One section in Hall 26 will be revolving around career paths, science and research. In the Campus & Career area, 30 exhibitors and educational institutions will be presenting an attractive range of offerings. On the one hand, visitors will be able to establish contacts with companies seeking staff, obtain advice from human resources consultants and learn more about basic and further training opportunities.
