On 28th of April 2012 CLAAS and HORSCH together had sown and at the same time fertilised a total area of 448.29 hectare within 24 hours with a XERION 5000 and a single grain seed drill Maestro 24.70 SW. This is more than twice as a much as a current attempt to set a record with an 8-row machine. You cannot just multiply the achieved hectare output of 212 by 3 – thus, the old record still persists. Moreover, choosing only one section of many for comparison is not customary in our line of business and has never been done for the threshing records which have already taken place quite often. In the Formula 1, too, it is not only the fastest lap that is taken into account. In the end the one with the maximum overall performance during the whole race wins. Thus, it should be clear that for example 212 hectare compared to 448 hectare cannot be a new record. A record should be a real record and not a statistical interpretation and calculation of numerical values.
The objective of last year's world record set by HORSCH and CLAAS was to show the precision that is possible at a high operational speed (on average of 14.7 km/h). Moreover, a 24-row machine sets quite different requirements on organisation and logistics. Due to these and a lot of more points it is very difficult to compare the two achievements. The logical result is that the record from 2012 will persist.
