The mini tele-handler with the model designation 48T18, built by Thaler since the end of 2013, is steadily expanding its field of operation. Its history is impressive. Already in May 2015, Mr. Thaler mounted a 3-point linkage in the rear, a few weeks later presented the Bavarian manufacturer a stability certificate for the operation of the mini-telehandler with a working platform in a two men operation. After dynamic tests, DEKRA, one of the two major German organisations of certification, approved accordingly the equipment of the telehandler.
And now the next hurdle was taken to expand the range of application. TÜV Süd provided the mini tele-handler with an operating permit as tractor registration. Of course German laws found application, § 21 StVZO states under point 5: LOF. Zugmaschine, in general the tractor category. Q1 states the trailer load with overrun brakes: 4000 kg and Q2 is the trailer load without any brakes of 750 kg.
'Of course we had to add different options,' commented the managing director and owner, Mr Manfred Thaler. ,We need to build in: a closed, fully equipped cabin and the lighting for public road use including the braking lights and the socket (7- or 13-pin) in the rear. An automatic clevis is also part of the mandatory equipment'. This was verified by an employee of the TÜV-Süd on-site at the factory, who then issues the official report and sends it back to the Thaler factory.
