Member states’ EU ambassadors today agreed the Council’s position on the 2022 EU draft budget. In total, the Council’s position amounts to €167.7 billion in commitments and €170 billion in payments. The 2022 budget will be complemented by Next Generation EU funds designed to help boost the European economic recovery.

In its proposal for a reinforced long-term budget, the Commission will increase the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) by €9 billion (€4 billion for the CAP's European Agricultural Guarantee Fund and €5 billion for the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development) and the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund (EMFF) by €500 million.

Az Európai Unió állam- és kormányfői az Európai Tanács 2020. július 17. és 21. közötti – maratoninak mondható – ülésén megállapodtak az Európai Unió 2021 és 2027 közötti időszakára vonatkozó költségvetési kereteiről. Az ülés nemcsak a számokat, hanem azon túlmutatóan elveket és új irányokat is rögzített az EU 27 tagállama számára. Felmerül viszont a kérdés, hogy a mezőgazdasági termelők részére milyen eredménnyel járt az Európai Parlament elfogadására váró megállapodás.
2021-ben új lehetőségek tárulnak a hazai agrárium elé. Számos módosítás általános, adózási, ügyrendi vagy egyéb működési tekintetben is érdekes. De szükséges kiemelni azokat a hazai mezőgazdaság működésére ható uniós vonatkozású eseményeket, amelyek jelentős, akár rendszerszintű változást eredményeznek és számos gazdálkodó tevékenységére hatással lesznek.
